More than a game

In the 2020-21 season, Omaha South had a rough season only going 4-16. They have a lot of new players this year which should make their team way better. They have transfers “JoJo” Ford, T’andre Perkins, and DeAndre Harper. They also have the addition of some key freshmen like Tayvin Murphy, and Treyvon Griggs. They also have arguably the best defender in the state in Isaiah Jackson. He gets the team going with his defense and brings energy.

Omaha South played against Winnebago on November 27 and won 79-42. When DeAndre Harper, a sophomore forward for Omaha south, was asked what your coach told y’all that you must do in order to win his response was “We must buy in on the defensive side of the ball. Yea sure we could go out there and score a lot of points but were not guaranteed to win if we always have shoot outs.”

South has not started off the season too good. They are 5-9 this season. Aric Thomas, a junior guard for Omaha south said, “If our team was healthy the whole season then we would be above 500, at least 8-6.”

“JoJo” Ford a senior guard for Omaha south has been on a tear since his ineligibility was cleared up. In 5 games he averages 17 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Jacob Martin averages the second most points on the team with 11.3.

In the loss to Elkhorn South on January 8th, the game went to 4 overtimes. Ford had 30 points, Martin had 20, and Perkins had 14. Those were the top scorers for the Packers.
